Drawing and painting since childhood, Mary Ann Testagrossa has always been an artist. Born and raised in New York City, she began formal art studies in high school and went on to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology before settling in the majestic Pacific Northwest. During her early period, she learned all facets of the art world, trying her hand as a graphic artist, sign painter, framer, and managing a gallery for over a decade. Mary Ann's painting is about recreating beauty; enlarging and enhancing that which is already beautiful. As an amateur gardener, she combines her passion for flowers with her passion for painting. She grows her own flowers, photographs them, and uses them for her watercolor compositions. "I have worked exclusively with watercolors for the last 20 years," she explains. "They are the perfect medium for my vehicle of self expression. Watercolor pigments glow on fresh new paper, much like the colors of light through stained glass."
